Last week I was the lucky guy that got to take the Treinen family photos at Strawberry Farms Golf Course in Irvine, California. When Kristin told me that she wanted to shoot at Strawberry Farms, I was really excited...I love Strawberry Farms! Just a second after that excitement though, a little bit of concern popped into my head...what if they don't let us onto the course? You see, I have done a few shoots there, and its always a gamble on whether the staff is going to be in a good mood (smiles at my large camera) or a bad mood (frowns at my large camera). So, I gave Kristin the standard warning that we may not be able to get onto the course, and I was so stoked that she was willing to go for it...man, did it pay off!
I arrived early for the shoot and the staff welcomed my large camera with a, well lets call it a "smown"...get it? Somewhere between a smile and a frown...I know, I know, I'm losing it! Usually I like to get a couple of golf carts for my shoots, but the staff denied me. Then they basically said I couldn't take photos on the course, but they never really said, "You cant take photos on the course." What I didn't realize at the time was that not having a golf cart was a blessing in disguise.
So, I went across the parking lot, met the Treinen family, and informed them of the news...no golf carts, but we can walk? They were awesome! The entire family was up for a little adventure and so was I! So we trekked our way through the golf course, getting to know each other along the way, and ended up at the waterfall you see below.
I was so glad we walked, because walking to the location really gave me a different perspective of the course, and it translated to shots that I had never thought of before. We had a really fun time, and the boys...Trevor, C.J, and Brady, were great!
Here are a couple shots from the evening, enjoy!
